Tourism events, promoting and a brochure exchange are just a few of the topics that will be discussed at a roundtable seminar on Saturday, April 8th at the Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Harrington Classroom. County Tourism marketing manager, Lynne Menz is inviting tourism partners and those with a special interest in promoting Orleans County tourism assets to a presentation and discussion during the Orleans County Chamber of Commerce’s Home Show at the County Fairgrounds.
With the start of “event season”, Menz is collaborating with event coordinators, attraction managers and service owners to share marketing statistics, designs and strategies that she and her staff are implementing in 2017.
The first seminar will be held from 10 AM –Noon, Apr. 8th and be a general Tourism Promotion Seminar. Participants will be able to introduce and promote their event, tourism-related business or organization and bring their promotional materials to exchange and cross promote. The collected brochures will also be displayed in the Tourism Brochure Rack in the Trolley Building during the Home Show. The presentation will feature digital and print designs as well as introducing a new promotional video of Orleans County. Menz will lead a discussion on economical and effective methods to promote your event or business.
The second seminar will be from 1 PM – 3 PM, Apr. 8th and be specific to Lodging Businesses. If you own a vacation rental, motel, B&B or are thinking about starting a lodging business, this seminar is for you! Topics will include ways to market your property, bed tax FAQ, hospitality and becoming an ambassador for our region. This seminar is similar to the one given in 2016 with updated statistics.
