Built in 1864, this 9,500 square foot building has housed brave soldiers from the Civil War, The Mexican Exposition, World War I, and World War II. Joyous crowds set off for day trips to the Pan-American Exposition. Busy salesman for the many bustling local factories and stores stayed overnight. Grace Humiston, who championed the innocence of accused murderer Charles Stielow, stayed there. "Babe" Ruth stayed there in 1920. Famed New York Times, publisher, Adolph S. Ochs Jr. and his wife lunched there in 1925.

This hardy and distinctive building has withstood the ravages of time, weather, fires and economics. Remarkably, the business survived Prohibition, the Depression, interstate trucking and the decline of passenger rail. "The Walsh" remains a landmark, an integral part of the Medina landscape, its name recognized by generations.
